ICCR SCHOLARSHIP FOR BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA


The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) offers scholarships to eligible students to engage in undergraduate, post-graduate, doctoral or post-doctoral studies at Indian State / Central Universities or affiliated colleges and institutions. Private colleges and universities are not covered by this scholarship scheme. List of participating educational institutions can be found under the ‘universities list’ tab on the A2A ICCR Scholarship Portal (portal) http://a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in/  4 scholarship slots have been allotted to Bosnia-Herzegovina and 3 slots for Hungary for the academic term 2021-22.

Applications are expected to be made solely online through the portal. Applicants are expected to submit complete (leave no field blank) applications for a maximum of 5 universities / institutions of their choice in preferential order. The official English translations of documents are also to be submitted. The last day to submit the complete application to the portal is 30 MAY 2021. Multiple applications by one candidate will be disqualified. Incomplete applications will be rejected. Applications not made through the portal will be rejected. Students’ eligibility rests on multiple criteria and applicants are themselves responsible to make sure that requirements are fulfilled and are therefore encouraged to explore both the portal and website of respective participating institutions.

Students wishing to pursue undergraduate studies must be between the age of 18 and 30 years and also must have 12 years of schooling. Those pursuing science or engineering courses should have studied Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in high school. Those in pursuit of biology-based science subjects should have studied Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Applicants for doctoral studies are to submit Synopsis of their proposed research work. Arts students shall submit video/audio/YouTube link of their performance. The language of instruction is English. Applicants are required to submit a 500-word essay to ascertain their language proficiency. Besides, students can also submit test results they achieved in TOEFL/IELTS, if available. Universities / institutions themselves will scrutinize applications and conduct online interviews, if so required. They will notify applicants about the outcome. Successful applicants will study in India holding a Student Visa or Research Visa, will not be authorized to work and undertake to return to their respective countries upon conclusion of their studies in India.

The ICCR Scholarship Scheme covers tuition fee, but expenditure on related incidental charges (e.g. laboratory chemicals) are borne by the students themselves. Recipients are given a monthly house rent allowance of INR 5,500-6,500 depending on the city of their study, a monthly stipend of INR 18,000-25,000 is paid depending on the level of their study and some other expenses. ICCR advises students to stay in hostel, if available. However, students are allowed to stay in private accommodation if the concerned institute does not insist on staying in their hostel. Airfare is not covered.  Medical costs are not covered. All students are expected to take out their own health insurance policy. The insurance should cover at least INR 500,000 (US$6800) per annum. ICCR invited quotes from private insurance companies.  The indicative annual premium of the two lowest bidding companies is approx. INR 3,267-3,823. A2A portal can be seen for referral purpose. Students are free to choose their preferred private insurer as long as the insurance is valid in India. Stipend will not be paid to students without insurance.

Students are expected to be generally in good health therefore applicants are to submit a certificate of physical fitness alongside with their applications. Certain medical conditions (operation/hospital treatment within 5 years of application, certain chronic diseases (e.g. high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney problem etc.), cancer, HIV, mental disorders etc.) may affect eligibility for insurance and as such for the scholarship. Interested students should visit university / institute website and do thorough research of courses offered, eligibility criteria and general information about the university / institute before applying for admission. The students should ensure that they are eligible for the course and meet the eligibility criteria and should submit relevant documentation as required by the Universities in addition to the basic certificates mentioned in the application form. They should always refer to Universities Handbook/University Grants Commission's website and concerned university/institute's website for eligibility criteria.
