Egy átlagos szerdán Prakash Rathod rendőrtiszt telefonhívást kap egy ismeretlentől, aki öt bombát helyezett el Mumbai leglátogatottabb helyein, és azok felrobbantásával fenyeget, amennyiben nem adnak át neki négy fogva tartott terroristát. A rendőrtiszt komoly dilemma elé kerül, hogy elengedje-e a terroristákat, vagy kockáztassa sok száz ember életét. Eközben emberei elkeseredett küzdelmet folytatnak, hogy felderítsék a titokzatos telefonáló hollétét.
Az indiai filmipar két színészóriását szerepeltető kis költségvetésű film egyformán nagy sikert aratott a kritikusoknál és a közönségnél. Az elsőfilmes író-rendező munkája számtalan díjat és jelölést kapott, és tamil és telugu változat mellett még amerikai remake-et is készítettek belőle.
On an ordinary Wednesday, police officer Prakash Rathod receives a phone call from an unknown person who has planted five bombs in Mumbai's most visited places and threatens to detonate them unless four arrested terrorists are handed over to him. The police officer is faced with a serious dilemma whether to let the terrorists go or risk the lives of hundreds of people. Meanwhile, his men wage a desperate struggle to discover the whereabouts of the mysterious caller.
The low-budget film, featuring two giants of the Indian film industry, was a hit with critics and audiences alike. The work of the first-time writer-director received numerous awards and nominations, and in addition to the Tamil and Telugu versions, it was even made into an American remake.
