Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre, Embassy of India organised the celebrations of “International Dance Day” at Margaret Island, Budapest. Ambassador of India, His Excellency Mr Partha Satpathy inaugurated the event. In his address, he underlined about the rich and vibrant tradition of Indian dance. He says, "Indian dance is characterized by intricate footwork, expressive gestures, and elaborate costumes, all of which come together to create a mesmerizing spectacle”. He emphasized that the Indian dance continues to evolve, blending traditional forms with contemporary influences, reaching audiences worldwide, and fostering cross-cultural appreciation and understanding.

Ambassador of India, His Excellency Mr Partha Satpathy welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of Yoga and its multifaceted benefits. The event was attended by prominent personalities including Ambassadors, diplomats, journalists, Yoga Professionals, Representative of Indian Companies in Hungary, academia, members of Indian Diaspora etc.

Glimpses of the celebrations of ‘World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development’ !



Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre (ASCC), Embassy of India, Budapest, organized a special cultural evening titled “अनेकता मेंएकता- Unity in Diversity” on 28 May 2024 to commemorate the ‘World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialouge and Development’. 

The event was inaugurated by the Ambassador of India, His Excellency Mr Partha Satpathy, who emphasized the importance of “Cultural Unity”. He highlighted that ‘one facet of diplomacy is that it is like an orchestra, which has different instruments with different tuning, yet when they are synchronized, we hear the symphony’. He further added, ‘In the context of diplomacy, culture is a bulwark as it is not transient; it does not change with politics or economics. It defines the character of the country, and it identifies the countries. Therefore, culture when it is used as a plank in diplomacy can yield wonderful results.’ A notable highlight of the program was his recorded song, “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara, To Sur Bane Hamara” (When our music merges, it becomes a melody), which was played during his speech, symbolizing harmony and unity through music.

Following the inauguration, ASCC presented a captivating cultural program. The program began with the performance by two times Guinness World Record Holder, Pianist Mr. Thurzó Zoltán, who also played the National Anthem of India. The performances, which included a variety of Indian music and dance, showcased the vibrant essence of Indian cultural heritage. The program was a unique blend of intercultural performances, including Hungarian Folk dance and fusion of Indian dance form, Bharatanatyam and Spanish Flamenco, demonstrating how cultural diversity enriches relations between and among countries.


7th International Day of Yoga Celebrated at Budapest ~ Bird's Eye View


An Interview based  Video Series entitled INDIA HUNGARY DIALOGUES was launched by the Speaker of Hungarian National Assembly H.E. Mr. Laszlo Kover and Ambassador of India H.E. Mr. Kumar Tuhin. The video series is an in-depth interview series of experts who  speak on India Hungary relations and its  diverse aspects pertaining to bilateral, diplomatic, political, cultural, academic,  trade & commerce elements. In the inaugural episode,  Ambassador Kumar Tuhin and Speaker H.E. Laszlo Kover have a dialogue on salient aspects of India Hungary Relations  covering bilateral, political, economic, cultural, education aspects  etc.

In the first episode of the series, there is an in-depth conversation between scholar & Dean of Dept. of Humanities at ELTE University Dr. Sonkoly Gábor and Indologist Anna Kata Aklan covering aspects of ancient Indian Philosophy, cultural & educational exchanges between India and Hungary.



In the second episode of the series, Ambassador  Kumar Tuhin has a conversation with State Secretary for Security Policy,  MFAT,  Péter Sztáray on  bilateral  relations between India &  Hungary, especially trade and economic relations.

Five critically acclaimed films are being shown on tv channels hatoscsatorna & Szeged Tv in Hungary and OBN Channel in Bosnia & Herzegovina  ( in Jan)


This video is the Dance Drama made on the occasion of commemoration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in a specially curated and composed dance drama on the life and philosophy of Gandhi Ji.
It comprises 9 Indian and Hungarian artists from different Indian classical genres like Bharatnatyam, Odissi, Mohiniaatam, Kathak, Sitar, Tabla and Vocals.
The dance drama also pictures live painting of Bapu done by artist Pallavi Majumdar from Budapest. The dance drama was shown on the leading TV channel Hir TV in Budapest.


This is a documentary on the influence of Bollywood films on Hindi language learning by Hungarians in Hungary.
The film traces the three case studies who talk about they have were influenced by the Hindi language through films and film songs, and instead of watching films with stilted subtitles, they preferred to learn Hindi at ELTE University to enjoy the colour world of Indian films.



On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, a special recording was done of the Patanjali's Yog Sutra by singers in Budapest and made into a a video.

The video encapsulates all the activities done during International Day of Yoga 2020. In 2020,  there was  Live Yoga session performed from iconic Hero's Square in Budapest followed by Live Streaming of Yoga by Yoga teachers from all over Hungary & Bosnia. There were several Webinars conducted on this occasion for 10 days.


The film is on the study & translations that have taken place in the  last century or so in Hungary of Indian texts, and its scope in future.  The film was released for the Closing Ceremony of Hindi Course run by  Embassy of India in Hungary in collaboration with ELTE University.
