Embassy Of India in Hungary & Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre is celebrating 150th birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on this day by felicitating the two singers from Hungary & Bosnia & Herzegovina Jennifer Maga (Hungary) and Selma Muhedinovic-Silajdzic ( BiH) who had rendered the spiritual song 'Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye' in their soul voice in 2018. On this occasion Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre is organising an event where there would be talks by some distinguished Indians from Hungary as well as Indologist Katalan Aklan who would be delivering 'Satyavarta' a talk on Gandhi and relevance of Khadi in modern times. The celebration would be culminated by an exhibition on Khadi products together with a cultural programme. Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas is celebrated on account of the return of the first 'pravasi' of India, father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa in 1915. In 2003, late Sri Atal Bihari Vajpai, former Prime Minister announced Jan 9 as Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas to be celebrated all over the world, to acknowledge the contribution and achievements of the Indian soulful voice.
