Visit of 14-member Bharatnatyam Group sponsored by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi

Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi sponsored a 14-member Bharnatyam Group, led by Padamshree Pratibha Prahlad to Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH) and Hungary. The group performed at 7 venues in two countries.
Exhibition and Performances in Bosnia & Herzegovina
Sarajevo Winter Festival, one of the most prestigious festivals of Europe was opened by India this year. This year’s theme of the Festival was “Sarajevo Substance –Silk Road Art” which focussed on Silk road countries. Embassy of India with the support of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi put up an exhibition showcasing Indian silk and sarees.
The Festival was inaugurated on 7th February, 2017 in the prestigious National Theatre by the Ambassador of India and Minister of Culture of Bosnia & Herzegovina followed by inaugural Bharatnatyam dance performance titled “Silk Sutra”, especially conceptualised for the Festival by Padmashree Pratibha Prahlad. After the performance Ambassador of India hosted a Reception for dignitaries, diplomats, artists and invited guests.
The Bharatnatyam Group also performed at Republic Day Reception hosted by Ambassador in hotel Bristol on 8thFebruary, 2017. Organisers of the Sarajevo Winter Festival also arranged two performances for the dance troupe in East New Sarajevo and in Music Academy in Sarajevo on 9th & 10th February, 2017. All the four performances were to the packed audiences and were very well received. The events were widely published in print, web-portals and electronic media. BHT1, the national TV of BiH covered the inaugural performance.
Performances in Hungary
After the successful tour of Bosnia & Herzegovina Embassy also organised performances of the dance troupe in three prestigious cities of Hungary. First performance was held in the Central European University, multi-cultural University of Hungary on 13th February, 2017.
This was followed by two performances in Debrecen and Szeged on 14th and 15th February, 2017 respectively. All performances were to the packed audiences and dancers were applauded repeatedly. Padamshree Pratibha Prahlad was interviewed by print and electronic media in Debrecen and Szeged.
