Government of India is implementing a flagship programme (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Mission) for providing houses to all eligible urban beneficiaries by year 2022. Against a validated demand of 10 million housing requirement in the country, 3.7 million have been grounded for construction and around 1.5 million have been completed and allotted to the beneficiaries.
Government of India is keen to bring in a paradigm shift in technology for large scale construction by obtaining the best available global construction technologies with optimum use of resources and environment friendly practices. Therefore "Global Housing Technology Challenge-India (GHTC- India) was launched on 14 January 2019 with three components:
i) A Grand Expo-cum-Conference on 01-02 March 2019
ii) Identifying Proven Demonstrable Technologies from across the world
iii) Promoting Potential Technologies through establishment of Affordable Sustainable Housing Accelerators- India (ASHA-India) for incubation support.
